Fine Wine

Bewtween August and October, grapes are harevested. Some grapes will arrive to our dinner table unchanged, some will become raisins[1] and others will be turned into wine!

Wine has been enjoyed throughout the ages[2]. Probably because wine is made by fermenting grapes; a process that makes it alcoholic. It’s first known use dates back to[3] 6000 BC in the regions of Georgia and Iran. Nowadays, civilizations all over the world[4] produce and consume wine. Let me throw[5] some stats[6] at you. The Top 5[7] wine-producing countries in 2005 were Italy, France, Spain, the United States and Argentina, whereas the leading exporters were France, Italy, Australia, Spain and Chile. And the countries that consumed the most wine were France, Italy, the USA, Germany and Spain. With so much grape juice flowing, it’s no wonder[8] that there are wines for every meal and occasion!

Un/Countable forms of wine
Usually, when we talk about wine, because it is a liquid, it is considered to be an uncountable noun. For example:

I prefer drinking red wine with dinner?
Would you like some more wine

If we want to count it, we need a unit. For example:
Would you mind passing me the bottle of wine, please?
You’ve already had three glasses of wine!

However, when we talk about types of wine, wine is countable. For example:
I prefer red wines more than white wines
This climate is ideal for growing Zinfandels
