Back to Work

It’s time to forget about the lazy days of summer and get back to the grind[1]! Unless you win[2] the lottery, you have to go back to your old job[3], working full-time[4], 40 hours a week. After all, you have to earn[5] enough money to pay off [6] the credit card expenses of your vacation. While you’ve been gone, the work[7] in your in-box[8] has grown very tall, so you may have to work overtime[9], extra hours, in order to reach your deadline[10], when the work has to be finished, on time[11]. You never imagined when you were a student in college[12] that work would be like this. Your colleagues[13], or workmates, are just as busy as you are, so don’t ask them for help. Perhaps you can pass some of the work along to the workers on the next shift[14]. It’s enough to make you want to quit[15] and get that part-time[16] job you saw advertised in the Sunday paper. That is if your boss[17] doesn’t get mad at you and fire[18] you first. After all this work, you definitely deserve to get a raise[19] in your salary[20], plus a promotion[21] to a better position!
