Possessive Adjectives

Possessive adjectives are confusing. First let's look at the table of subject pronouns and their respective possessive adjectives.

 SUBJECT         POSSESSIVE
PRONOUN         ADJECTIVE
     I                     my
   you                  your
    he                    his
   she                   her
    it                      its
   we                    our
  they                  their

Examples:
Adam's apple = his apples (the apple belongs[1] to Adam)
Adam's apples = his apples (the apples belong to Adam)
the children's ball = their ball (the ball belongs to the children)

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the possessive adjective does NOT depend on the noun that follows it, the possessed[2] BUT on the noun it blongs to, the possessor[3].

And remember that possessive adjectives, like all adjectives, are NEVER plural.

[1] pertenece, [2] el poseido, [3] el poseedor
