Dead Trees Sign

During the past Spring Break, I was walking along a path in the mountains of the Aran Valley in the Pyrenees, when I came across this educational sign. There's a typographical error in the English translation. Can you figure out what's wrong with it?

"Dead trees area a very important nutritional source
of food for many insects and birds."

The answer's in the comments below.

The typo is the noun AREA, which should read ARE, a verb:

"Dead trees ARE a very important nutritional source..."

A complete sentence needs a verb. Probably, the article A before the following object was unintentionally attached to the end of the verb.
