English-Speaking Countries

Thanks to the colonial era of England, the English language spread all over the world. As you already know, besides the United Kingdom, English is the major language in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the United States. But it’s also a majority language in Nigeria, the Philippines, Belize and many of the Caribbean islands, including Jamaica. Ironically, although a very small percentage of India’s population (about 8 %) speak English, it has the second highest total of English speakers after the United States.
