March 17th: St. Patrick's Day

March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, a national holiday of Ireland, in honor of its patron saint. The day isn’t only celebrated in Ireland, but in other countries where many Irish have historically emigrated to, especially the United States, where it is said that there are more people of Irish descent[1] than there are in Ireland. Even people who aren’t Irish take part in the festivities. Parades[2] are held and it is customary to wear green.

What a shame! I arrived to Dublin on the 19th of March, that’s why I couldn’t enjoy this day but I could see something; a brass band. It was wearing green with a big hat. I took some photos.
