Winter Weather

This winter has been very harsh[1]. One of the harshest I’ve experienced since I arrived in Barcelona 10 years ago. It has been literally freezing[2]. It's been rainy and snowy, not to mention the mix of rain and snow, or sleet[3]. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to scrape[4] the frost[5] off of my car window! Although, it was nothing compared to Northern standards, this week’s blizzard[6], or snow storm, was incredible. It stopped everybody in their tracks[7]! All the traffic came to a standstill[7]. Who would of thought that a few snowflakes[8] could cause such a headache? You had to use chains to even circulate around the city. That is if you even know how to put them on! And many towns are still experiencing a blackout[9]. Many homes are still without electricity, waiting for broken cables to be repaired[10]. The weight of the icicles[11] was too much for trees and cables to bear[12]. The winter of 2010 will surely go down in history as one of the worst ever. Well at least skiers will be happy. As long as they don’t get caught in an avalanche[13], when a mass of snow slides[14] down the slopes[15] of a mountain.
