In the United States, it is common for family members to be separated from one another by hundreds of miles. So, at Thanksgiving, the holiday turns into a real homecoming event, a time for millions of people to return to their hometown, the place where they were raised[1]. Because, as Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz, when she clicked the heels of her ruby slippers together, There’s no place like home.
Fortunately, our family is there to keep the home fires burning, to keep our home as cozy[2] and comfortable as when we left it so long ago. There, we can enjoy down-home cooking, simple, typical delights[3] from our childhood. If we’re lucky, there’ll be homegrown yams[4] and homemade pumpkin pie[5] on the Thanksgiving dinner table; food that was grown in our own gardens or baked in our own ovens! Of course, not everything goes smoothly at this family get-together[6]. Even chickens come home to roost, meaning that unresolved problems from the past may rear[7] their ugly heads.
There’s a Chinese proverb that says, He who travels a lot becomes wise; he who is wise stays home. I guess, we just don’t know how to appreciate a good thing when we got it. I suppose the grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence[8]. I suppose we’re always looking for the end of the rainbow. Anyhow, the important thing is to make a home away from home, a place where you feel safe and secure. After all, home is where the heart is, being in a place with the people you love the most!

Yeah, the humans are never satisfied with what we have.
This is inherent to women and men.
We are fortunate to have a house, hot water and food stored in a refrigerator!!!!
