A superlative adjective is used to make a comparison among three or more units, regardless of whether they are people, places or things. To make a superlative adjective...
a) Add the suffix -est at the end of one-syllable adjectives.
b) Or add the word most before adjectives with two or more syllables.
c) Except two-syllable adjectives that end in Y. In this case, we change Y to I and add -est at the end of the adjective.
ALWAYS put the before the adjective.
For example:
a) big >> the biggest, safe >> the safest
b) mod/ern >> the most modern, dan/ger/ous >> the most dangerous
c) hap/py >> the happiest, friend/ly >> the friendliest
Of course, there are some irregular comparative adjectives:
good >> the best, bad >> the worst, far >> the farthest
Examples:
China has the biggest population in the world.
This factory has the most modern technology.
She’s the happiest person in our family.
That was the worst film I’ve ever seen.
