Compound Pronouns

We can use someany, no and every together with body, one, thing and where, to form compound nouns in order to substitute an unspecified object. Before we look at their combinations, let's take a quick look at these words.

On the one hand, we use some and any to represent an unkown quantity. (Look at the post Would Anyone Like Some? to review how to use them.) We use no for 0 quantity and every for the opposite, all quantity.

On the other hand, we use body or one to substitute people. We use thing to substitute objects and where for places.

Now it's just a matter[1] of mixing and matching!

somebody, someone, something, somewhere
anybody, anyone, anything, anywhere
nobody, no-one, nothing, nowhere
everybody, everyone, everything, everywhere

Well, here are some examples for you.

Is anyone home? No, nobody's home. Where is everybody?
Would anyone like something to drink?
Could you do something for me? If you need anything just call.
We're on the road to nowhere? I see her everywhere I go!

Unlike nouns, we put adjectives after compound pronouns.
Let's do something exciting!

One more thing worth noting, we don't use to before -where compound pronouns: Let's go out __ somewhere nice tonight.
