The early bird catches the worm is a saying which means that if you act quickly you will be successful, in particular getting up and going to work early. In other words, those who wait or who lose opportunities. To help you be successful, let’s review the words early, quick and soon, which are often confused in English because they can be translated into the same word in Spanish (pronto). Look at the sentences below, and see if you see the difference in usage.
She wasn’t feeling well, so she came home early from work.
There was no traffic, so she arrived home quickly.
She should be finished working by now, so she’ll be home soon.
early = before the expected time
quickly = fast
soon = in the near future
Well, now you know! It’s never too late to learn! Or as we say Better late than never!
