Body Movements

Let’s test your knowledge of body movements. I imagine you can make them BUT can you name them. These descriptive words are especially useful to know when reading novels. See if you can match the English word in the first column with its description in the second column. To make things simpler I have separated these body movements into two groups. The answers are in the comments below. 

Things you do with your hands…

1	clap		a	direct someone's attention to something with the index finger
2	grab		b	firmly close your hand on an object
3	pat		c	gently and repeatedly touch a surface with an open hand
4	point		d	gently move an open hand over a surface
5	poke		e	greet by joining two people's right hands together
6	punch		f	greet by moving the hand or fingers back and forth
7	shake		g	hit the palms of both hands together
8	slap		h	hit with a fist
9	snap		i	hit with an open hand
10	squeeze		j	press the thumb against the middle finger
11	stroke		k	push a finger into a surface
12	wave		l	suddenly take something by the hand
